Why Yoga Philosophy Matters
As yogis, it’s easy to think of our practice just as something that happens on the mat. But at its heart, yoga is a way of living. Yoga philosophy gives us the language, context, and wisdom to carry our practice into our relationships, our work, our choices, and the way we meet both challenge and ease in daily life.
Studying yoga philosophy helps us understand why we practice, not just how.
It offers practical tools for self-inquiry, resilience, compassion, and clarity - guiding us to live with more intention and alignment long after we roll up our mats. When we engage with these teachings, we remember that yoga is for everyone - less about poses and more showing up with awareness, integrity, and care in the world around us.

Three Upcoming Immersions at Camaraderie:
Living the Yoga Sutras with Katie Yev
The Yoga Sutras of Patañjali are considered to be one of the most important foundational texts in yoga philosophy, outlining the theory and practice of yoga, not so much the physical postures we often associate with yoga today, but the inner path toward clarity, freedom, and self-realization.
Join Katie Yev for this three-session immersion to explore the Yoga Sutras in a way that’s both intellectual and experiential. Through discussion, reflection, and gentle, embodied practice, we’ll bring this ancient wisdom to life—connecting timeless teachings to the realities of modern living.
Sundays: February 1, March 1, March 22, 1-3:30pm
From the Outside In: Yoga Philosophy, Koshas + Meditation
In yin yoga, the gift of time and slowness allows us to modulate, observe, and feel more deeply. This cultivates introspection (our sense of self), proprioception (our awareness of the body in space), and interoception (our connection to the inner world). Long before modern science, the ancients understood these layers of being through the Kosha Model.
In this immersion with founder Maura Manzo, we’ll use a yin yoga practice to explore the deeper dimensions of practice—yoga philosophy, meditation, and your own inner landscape.

Your Brain on Yoga: Examining the Role of Psychology & Emotional Health in the Practice of Yoga
Join Candace Stevens, Licensed Professional Counselor and experienced yoga teacher, for a weekend immersion exploring the intersection of yoga, psychology, and the mind-body connection. Through the lens of both ancient wisdom and modern science, you’ll gain insight into how both yoga and the tools of psychology support mental and emotional well-being.
This workshop is ideal for teachers who would like to teach classes that are attuned to mental health concerns, and any student who would like to explore the connections between their mind and their practice.
