Outdoor Yoga Season is Upon Us!
My favorite time of year is here! The time when we get to move our practice outdoors. 15 years ago, I kick started outdoor yoga in the area with $5 classes on the Rooftop at the (brand-new at that time) Whole Foods in Plymouth Meeting. Who remembers those classes? They were hot, they were packed, and they were FUN! There was also a Taco Truck - yes, up on the roof!
Peep baby Maura and if you look very closely, Candace.
It’s always been important to me to partner with organizations that value yoga and the power of community. When Amazon took over Whole Foods, those classes - sadly - went bye bye. But it gave me the chance to find other partners to work with. It took a few years of talking about it but finally in 2023, Morris Arboretum + Gardens welcomed the idea of offering yoga in their Out-On-A-Limb Treetop Exhibit and let me tell you, this class is extraordinary! 40 feet in the area, under a cathedral of trees, the light, the air, the birds - it is pure magic! Those classes return this May and will be offered 1x/month. Big shoutout to Stephanie Bruneau, Assistant Director of Adult Education for all she brings to life at Morris Arboretum + Gardens.
WIth Camaraderie opening last Fall, I’ve had my eyes and ears open to who would be the best partners for outdoor classes in Ambler. You know, it’s not just as simple as picking a grassy patch—it’s about building relationships and creating spaces where connection, movement, and joy can thrive. Whether it’s a community park, a sunny garden nook or a hidden gem that feels just right, it’s important to me to collaborate with local businesses, organizations, and individuals who share a love for community and the magic of outdoors.
I’m thrilled to announce our outdoor partners this year - Ambler Community Garden and Ambler Arboretum of Temple University. The women I’ve been working with this to get these programs off the ground are dynamite. I must shout them out - Amy Seponara helped establish the Ambler Community Garden, is the founder of Amy’s Miscellany and is a kindred spirit. It’s not often you meet someone who you can immediately start dropping voice memos to, all in spirit of ‘let’s get this done!’ Kathleen Salisbury is the Director of Ambler Arboretum and brought up collaborating at her first Qigong class at the studio. She is a connector of plants + people and we’ve already started talking about other ways to work together, including a tree talk at the studio (who’s in!)
👏🏼👏🏼 If you know or see any of these women, give them a big thank you!
I can’t wait for you to experience these outdoor offerings—each one rooted in a shared love for nature, movement, and community. Our Ambler Community Garden classes will be held monthly on Wednesday evenings beneath the Knights Park Pavilion. Yoga in the Treetops returns monthly on Thursdays through October and includes garden admission before class, giving you time to wander and soak in the beauty - what a bonus!. At the Ambler Arboretum, we’ll gather for six Saturday morning sessions, tucked into the serene Conifer Garden beside the Greenhouse. If these Ambler classes are well attended, we’ll have the chance to add even more dates and extend into the fall—so show up, bring a friend, and let’s grow this together!
